Bauhinia's are one of the great small tree introductions. I think more varieties will become more familiar. Lynn Lowery was responsible for Bauhinia congesta becoming popular after collecting some seed in Mexico and on the Texas border. The white form of congesta became very popular even though pink is probably more normal in the wild. Bauhinia's appear to be hardier than earlier thought. I suspect that more varieties will be discovered in Asia and south America.
