Delphiniums
grow world wide in cool regions. In Texas carolinianum occurs as vimeneum,
or virescens (blue) or penardii
(white). There are quite a few hybrid forms based on English and Pacific Giants.
These two hybrids have one requirement and that is they stay cool. They are
great for mountainous regions and northern coastal regions. Ajacis is the common
multi-colored introduced variety that one finds in seed mixes. I really like
the native Texas form carolinianum
because it is more delicate. The Colorado form barbeyi is similar
in that way. The big problem with growing any delphinium from seed is damping
off. Ajacis since it is so inexpensive just throw the seed out more
than you want and water. More later
