Mexico is the manifestation for the great human dilemma. How does one live in a beautiful fragile environment and maintain the beauty that draws you to it. Now admittedly most Mexicans aren’t there to retire, The Baja is one great contradiction especially the very tip near Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. There are vast natural areas amongst some of the largest and ugliest hotels I have ever seen. There are three distinct regions I visited of the southern part of the Baja: The Rio San Jose estuary is a pleasant diversion with a diverse ecosystem of palm (Brahea brandegeei) dominated. The Sierra de la Laguna or Sierra la Pintada and Sierra la Palmillosa is the other ecological wonder of Baja. The third is the dessert as I will commonly call it. Bursera, Pachycormus discolor, Solanum hindsianum, and Pachycereus pringlei. I am being fairly vague about the different ecologies because I do not have the time to flesh this stuff out right now. Look at the images and I’ll get back to this page later
