This botanical center is truely one of my favorite in the country. I may be prejudice because i go here every year. The understanding of botany and its reflection in the garden is everywhere. The location sitting on a hill is a perfect setting for many types of plants and garden rooms. i fall all over myself with admiration of this garden. The most recent garden additions of the Romantic Gardens with the stucco walls the O’Fallon Perennial Walk leading to the El Pomar Waterway Garden and the Schlessman Plaza is a huge dissapointment. What were they thinking. This is a good example of it looked good on paper. I guarantee that no plantsman created this landscape architectural nightmare. My recomendation bite the bullet and tear it down and start over. Besides this minor problem you will see that the rest of the garden is magnificent for being so small, a mere 23 acres. My favorite sections are :Rock Alpine Garden Laura Smith Porter Plains Garden, June’s PlantAsia, Wildflower Treasurers, and Woodland Mosaic.
